This is fascinating. With these great telescopes in space we are seeing more and more of this wacky universe. At this link, you will see a planet's atmosphere getting blown away. Note that the picture is an artist's illustration based on what are own star, Sol, looks like and how its solar wind interacts with the Earth and other planets. It's all fluid dynamics, a very difficult discipline within physics.

"Bad Astronomer" is the moniker of this fellow, Phil Plait, who got fed up with science writers penning horrible articles not consistent with the facts as described by the astronomers. This is partly the fault of the writers for not confirming the accuracy of their articles with the astronomers, and partly the fault of the scientists for not having adequate communication skills. We must have both skills, folks. Humans are not designed to specialize.
